The Most Badass Sketch Card There Ever Was
My dad finally got around to making use of the pack of blank sketch cards I gave him when I bought my first packs some time ago. And oh did he ever it pwn it on his first try! I’m going to start scanning all his sketch books and make him a deviantART account and post his stuff wherever I can (been meaning to for awhile). He is a great artist, and where my brother and (allegedly) me get our mad artistic skillz. So without further ado, I proudly present to the world, the most badass sketch card that’s ever been drawn:

Chuck!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s right, it’s a sketch card of Chuck-Freakin’-Norris! My dad has been a big fan of Chuck Norris for a long, long time (decades before Chuck Norris Facts, the Walker, Texas Ranger Lever, or even Walker, Texas Ranger itself made it cool), so it’s only appropriate the man hisself be his first try at a sketch card. Pretty awesome huh? I like how he colored it, to give it an old-timey feel. I forget the exact colors, but he did this with gel pens. Not bad, eh?
Post Fail & a Poll
Damn, I had at least two more posts planned for the weekend, but my furkkin’ computer arbitrarily decided “No more editing scans for you, Mr.” So I got nothin’. But seeing the Benchwarmers still up there gives me an idea to try out for a poll.
If the results are favorable, maybe Benchwarmers on Saturday mornings might become a regular thing here, like Waxaholic’s cheerleaders on Sunday. Well, till I run out of new cards in 4-6 weeks.
He gone!
Selling Out for the Blog Hits: eBay Winnin’s #1
Yaharr, when I scanned the half done sketch cards, I also (at the risk of being b*tched out, no less) scanned some of the eBay stuffs from recent weeks to share with y’all. Hawt chicks & Aramis Ramirez & trade bait ahoy! This is #1 of about a gazillion, btw.
First, the hawt chicks. Bring on teh Benchwarmers!

I... I don't know who she is. Sorry.

Think clean thoughts, chum.

Hey cool, someone sorta recognizable. Probably why she was 2/3 of the cost of these cards.
Okay gents, how’s that for a kickoff to your Saturday? Are y’all awake now? It’s card-related at least, right?
More of this to come, mayhaps…
You Like Shiny?

Shiny!
I have no idea how those holograms turned out so awesome… :O
(Edit: In case you are wondering, no, I didn’t have to tweak any settings to get the holograms or Goku to shine like dat. Crazy huh?)
Sketch Card Mania ‘09
The other day I totally out of the blue decided I wanted to go full out on sketch cards. I have no idea why I decided to do this. I’ve got a sci-fi/fantasy book to write and mountains of baseball cards to trade and probably some other stuff too, but the decision is made. So by the time all the fun-sized candy bars and nasty horrible disgusting candy corn has been given out and Halloween is over for another, I intend to have completed 35-40 sketch cards.
As of right now, I’ve drawn four and inked two. The inked ones are of one of my favorite wrestling ladies (Tara as she is known in TNA) and the other of are two of my favorite non-sports card bloggers and twitter buddies that I hope get autographed by them. The two that aren’t inked yet are Batman and a character of my own creation with a similar-sounding name and vastly different everything else.
If you’d like to help the project, I’m open to suggestions on who you’d like me to do, especially if you’d like to buy it after it’s done. The only specific cards I know I’ll be doing at some point are as follows, so the suggestion box is WIDE open.
Kosuke Fukudome
Eddie Kingston
Megaman
Cutman
Phantom Lady
Ricky Rubio
In other news, the Bears are now 2-1, coming back late and holding on against the Hurricane-esque Seahawks. Seriously, just throw a mask on ‘em and stand back! It’s kinda outdated news now (I started this post late Sunday night), but I’m leaving it because the joke is timeless.
I bought two [more] packs of Goodwin champions on Sunday. I’m not sure, but I might’ve gotten a night variation, and I definitely got a panda. That was kinda cool I guess.
One last thing: Can JD’s Daddy please let me know if I got pretty much everything I was intending to send when his package arrives? I packed everything up rather hastily, so I’m not 100% sure if the big hit made it in.
PS: eBay snipers deserve getting kicked in the shins by NFL kickers, and Jim Mora Jr. is the douche of the night. I need sleep now. Aloha.
Until our next…
Other Stuff that Came Up
My box of cards is due to arrive sometime between 9am and 7pm today. But before we get to that, let us look back. Here’s a list of all the other things that came up in the week or so I’ve been trying to get my To Do List done.
I stumbled into an art trade with a very talented sketch card artist. I’m really gonna have to step my game up to make an acceptable comic version of Gambit for her.
I may have found more cards for Marie of A Cardboard Problem. I need to email her about those soon.
My Americana blaster break aroused the attention of the proprietor of the Shot Not Taken blog. So we are now in the process of working out a trade that started with real life freakin’ ninja Gerald Okamura.
This one will be a ways down the road before it’ll be return the favor time, but Indians Baseball Cards. And then some… has some random packs of kindness to offer. And I took him up on a Mariners one. I guess you can get in on multiple teams, which I’ll do once the Cubbies roll around, and maybe a couple other teams that aren’t otherwise likely to get much play. So I’ll definitely have to send something nice in return down the line. Fortunately, this is one I was fully prepared for, so I didn’t really have do go out of my way for it.
When asking Dayf about bubble mailers, I also got his address to send him some Braves and anything else I might have that would be useful to him. My Braves are pretty much in order I think, so this one will be easy enough to do as well.
Aside from the sketch card, nothing too major or that I’m in a hurry on. Just thought it’d be fun to mention everything else that popped while I was getting things ready. I just hope I have enough bubble mailers for all new this stuff though!
The Lonestarr Personal Collection #4
Here’s the key card of a four card Donruss Americana II lot that I won cheaply on eBay many moons ago, Julie Newmar:

Catwoman~! 'Nuff said.
Actually, the caption is a lie. That’s not enough said! Julie Newmar has a hella impressive resume spanning 6 decades! See for yourself.
Also in the lot was a John Saxon-used swatch, and a couple of #ed cards, a parallel of some actor dude, and an insert of an MMA guy, but they were just the icing on the Americana II cake. I’m not sure exactly what the cost was anymore, but I do know I payed less than $8 for the lot (possibly less than $5). Regardless though, I do loves me some Donruss Americana, so it was more than worth it.
I think I like Americana because I am fascinated by historical stuffs, and it brings the goods.
I’ve got a few more suh-weet Americana hits to show off soon, including a legitimate sports LEGEND that had no business being in my price range. That my friends… was a tease.
Let’s meet again, in another place… and a better time.
