Small Trade Blowout Extravaganza

Since I’m still working on scans from my Secret Santa gift and the 45+ Warren Moons (amongst other things) from The Great Sports Name Hall of Fame and the cards from Marie and some random hits and you get the idea, and my A Piece of History box isn’t due till Monday, I don’t have much to post about at the moment.  Thank goodness for belated trade posts though.  Here are the cool cards I got in the various clunker-type trades I cashed in on awhile back, as well as a small trade with Baseball Dad.

First up, some cards from Roll Out the Barrel.

The four 2008 Sports Royalty cards were what this one was about.  For some reason I decided I wanted to collect all the non-baseball players in the set.  I’m not even sure how many there are, but I want ’em.  I need to update my wantlist to note that I have these three someday.  May as well list the mini too, since I listed the WBC refractors I have over there.  What were we talking about?

Oh yeah, he sent some Cubbies along for the ride too.  That was nice.  I need ROtB’s address to send him some stuff in return though (bubble mailer’s long gone).

Here are the main cards from Baseball Dad.

Sent a LaPorta jersey and a Crowe auto and a couple other random cards for these and a couple others.  The D-Lee refractor was a nice surprise, especially after the 2009 he had and the realization that I have so many cards of him that I decided I should just make him his own separate player collection.  It’ll be official once I have some room in the big binder or get a new one that I can put his cards in.

These are from Stats on the Back and Nachos Grande.

Sorry about the awkwardness of this pic.  I don’t know what the heck I was doing here.  Gilgamesh and Ichiro (and a not pictured for some reason Chrome Trading Card History of Alfonso Soriano) came from Nachos, and the rest came from Stats.  Well, except for the Red Moore.  I pulled him myself.

I really like the Hit Parade of Champions and am trying to collect that set as well if anybody has any to trade.  All I have are the Kobe above and LeBron.

Lots of nice cards, and even though the whole Clunker thing isn’t relevant anymore, the idea is excellent.  I may try to do this with some of my excess minor inserts and such someday.  Anyone got a catchy new topical name for it?

Finally, I leave you with this.

Flairamis!

Somewhere along the way, I think Aramis Ramirez became my favorite Cub.  I think this card also came from Roll Out the Barrel, but I’m not 100% sure.

Make like a pig and FLY!

Hey I’m Back

Did you miss me?  Did you even know I was gone?  It’s been over two weeks since I’ve posted anything.  Nothing much happened in my life while I wasn’t blogging.  Was just being lazy and wasting time like a chubby cat when I wasn’t drawing.  I came up well short on my sketch card goal of completing 35-40.  I only even got 22 drawn.

Final tally:

• 22 sketch cards drawn

• 18 (I think) sketch cards inked

• 6 sketch cards colored

• 5 sketch cards finished

Two of the colored sketch cards I lacked the right color of marker to finish (Only have about 20), the fifth finished card was penciled portraity card of Nelson Mandela.  It came out so right that I didn’t even want to try to ink it.

So yes, I came up well short of my goal.  However, I’m not entirely displeased.  I didn’t think I had a chance to begin with, and the fact that I got as far as I did was actually fairly encouraging, considering how lazy I know myself to be.  I even got over my inability to draw more than two sketch cards in one sitting, doing as many as four at one point.  The last 10 or so I inked and all six I colored were all done in the same sitting as well.

I’m not there yet, but I’m on my way.

Now that that is out of the way as an official happening (I will still finish the rest when the mood strikes), November is National Novel Writing Month.  I’m trying man, but I’m getting nowhere fast.  I’m having a really hard time with the first few lines of my epic.  It’s like… I can visualize it in my head, I know exactly how it’s supposed to play out, I just cannot find the words for it.  Any suggestions?  I know we’ve got at least a couple of authors out there in the sports card blogosphere.

I have also received cards from the following people since last we spoke:

Shot Not Taken

Wax Heaven (Giveaway stuffs)

Ryan’s Memorabilia Blog

Baseball Dad

Play at the Plate

Nachos Grande

Sorry, Sweet Georgia Brown is playing, one sec…

Okay, where was I?  Oh yes, I will get to work on getting your packages sent, starting today.  Baseball Dad and Shot Not Taken’s are packaged up already, so they will likely be going out today (Sorry Ray, I guess it was a good thing I didn’t mention a specific week when I said they’d be going out “mid-week” a couple weeks ago).

Also of note, to M. Ryan, I don’t think the DeMetrius Williams Sweet Spot RC auto will be making it to you this round (*cough*becauseIcan’trememberwhereitis*cough*), so hopefully our trade didn’t hinge on it.  Everything else is present and accounted for, however.

I’ll just send DeMetrius all willy-nilly whenever I find it.

I will scan the wonderful cards I’ve received as soon as I can and finally get around to doing some proper thank yous to y’all as well as a few that others I missed along the way.

The last thing I want to do before I get on with my day is ask Nachos Grande where he got the ridiculously awesome A&G mini-sized top loader & sleeve.  The collecting world needs to know this information!

Until our next…

Things Are… Actually Progressing?! Holy S#!%

I actually have three packages ready to go out tomorrow morning and some others rapidly approaching completion? What did I do with the real Lonestarr?!  It must just be excess nervous energy from worrying about someone, and the fact that I’ve been slowly preparing a bunch of these things little-by-little at once when the mood strikes.  But whatever the case, things are finally coming to fruition.

♫ Indians cards on the way for Baseball Dad (he sent 20 or so Ryne Sandbergs that I will post about once I’ve scanned them) and David (my WAY late group break money order and a far too few cards in thanks for the Random Packs of Kindness).  I can’t guarantee that there’s anything either of you can use, supercollectors that you are, but here’s hopin’.  I can always send a little more on (lol) to you if you are unsatisfied.

♫ Lots of wonderfully dementedly random stuff for Matt of Heartbreaking Cards of Staggering Genius will also be on the way tomorrow morning.

♫ The long-overdue SASE for Mario of Wax Heaven is pretty much only waiting for the old Andrew Miller sketch card I did back before I had a teal marker to be inked and colored.  It doesn’t seem right to not send anything, as cool and generous as Mario has been with me.  Unfortunately, I have nothing else to offer right now besides my mediocre artistic talents.

♫ Piles have been set aside for Wicked Ortega (Marlins and Mannys and stuff) and codebreaker extrordinaire JD’s Daddy (Phenom Pitchers).

♫ I just need Night Owl‘s address and I can send out stuff to him any time, Dodgers being one of the first teams I organized back when I thought I had the iron will to get further than two teams into The Great Cardening of 2009.

Looks like that’s everything that is progressed to near-completion.  Shoot me an email if you wish to know more specifics.

Hopefully this wasn’t too inane of a post.  Just doing whatever I can to take my mind off, umm… things, and thought I’d let people know how their dealings with me are progressing, since I’m painfully, excruciatingly slow at this.

Gettin’ s*** done, yaya. :d
