Old New Sketch Cards

As the title states, most of these were originally drawn in 2011, and it took me until almost a week ago to finally get around to coloring (and in some cases, inking) them. ¬†So we might as well take a looksie at them on the ol’ blogaroonie. ¬†It never stopped me before, but be aware there be edited nekkidness at the end of this post. ¬†So if you don’t wish to see it, stop reading this post after the sixth card.

Green Lantern Guy Gardner..

Green Lantern Guy Gardner..

First up is the Green Lantern known as Guy Gardner. ¬†He’s kind of a douche, but I sure did color him nice.

The Punisher..

The Punisher..

Batting second is a slickly-shaded Punisher.  A little too slickly-shaded for how mediocre the sketch originally was, but that probably goes without saying.  I am who I am, after all.

Hawkman..

Hawkman..

Hawkman has never been a great or terribly interesting character, but one of the very few complaints I have about the DCAU is that they turned him into a kinda creepy weirdo stalker.

Firestorm..

Firestorm..

Batting cleanup is the surpringly well-represented in cartoon form Firestorm. ¬†Dig that Kirby Krackle in the background. ¬†It’s much, much easier to make with marker than pen, by the way. ¬†My hand is grateful.

Nightwing..

Nightwing..

Screw dat red bullshizz, Nightwing wears blue. ¬†You’d have to pay me¬†at least double to commission any New52 character designs. ¬†New52 is the brown streak on the freshly cleaned underwear of DC Comics.

Vampirella..

Vampirella..

Ah, I was coloring so well until I got to her face. *le sigh*

We have come to the end, so if you do not desire to see blotted out lady parts, scram now or forever hold your peas.

Rogue..

Rogue..

Yep.  There you go.  Nekkid Rogue.  Someday the unedited version will probably make it to deviantArt or something.  Or you could buy it and have the poorly drawn lady parts all to yourself.

Same goes for everything else.  As always, on art posts like this, pretty much everything is for sale or trade.  So if you see something you wanna own, hit me up and we can work something out.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until our next..

Starfire, Up Close and Personal

Just a quickie post before I hit the hay, because I have to get up relatively early tomorrow to see the next airing of Wrestle Kingdom 9 that I didn’t make it over in time to see tonight (I ate almost a whole pizza and inked & colored a few more old sketch cards instead). ¬†So I present you one of the last four sketch cards I did in the waning days of 2014.

Dat detail tho..

Dat detail tho..

As the title indicates, this is indeed Starfire of the Teen Titans. ¬†She is one of my go-to sketch card characters, because quite frankly, coloring white people is kinda tedious and boring. ¬†I just like coloring a lot more in general when I can use vibrant, interesting colors. ¬†Anyway, I felt like I was putting entirely too much effort into these cards while I was doing them, since I didn’t put near as much effort into the earlier stages, but I don’t hate how things turned out. ¬†Anything but perfect, but a fairly spirited effort, I’d say.

Pretty much all the cards I do are available, so if you should ever happen to like anything I do enough to want to own it, hit me up and we can work something out!

That’s all I’ve got for now. ¬†Thanks for stopping by.

More Sketch Cards by Yours Truly

New day, new batch of art.

Rogue

Rogue..

This is bound for my pal Twitter pal Celina.  Drew it up ages ago but just finally got her colored a few days ago.

Raven 1..

Raven 1..

This was the only one of the three Ravens I liked before I colored them, but I’m pretty lukewarm on it now.

Raven 2..

Raven 2..

I don’t even know what the hell I was trying to do on this one, but I actually liked it a little better after coloring.¬† Still not a strong effort though…

Raven 3..

Raven 3..

I don’t even… I can’t stand most of my comic book/cartoon/anime-style stuff.¬† Let’s just get this post over with only other one of the five besides the Rogue that doesn’t really make me cringe.

Blink..

Blink..

Finally, mercifully, here’s another Blink that turned out decent.¬† Multiple Blinks in a short period happened because I didn’t have a tan marker to help out with more regular human skintones at the time I first sketched them all out.

That’s all for this post.¬† I’ll try to do better next time.¬† Thank you for stopping by nonetheless.

Until our next…

Latest Batch of Art (Edited, but Potentially NSFW)

We’re making art again.¬† Here’s the latest bunch.

Lithuanian Snow Troll..

Lithuanian Snow Troll..

To go along with the Estonian Thunderfrog card from late last year, here is the Lithuanian Snow Troll, another 1/3 of the Baltic Siege.¬† Someday I will have to draw the Latvian Proud Oak…

Yoenis Cespedes sketch card..

Yoenis Cespedes sketch card..

Did this because it was all I had to do when I got stuck at the parents’ place one night early in the year.¬† Not one of my stronger likenesses, that’s for sure.

Jurickson Profar sketch card..

Jurickson Profar sketch card..

And here’s that Jurickson Profar I forgot to scan awhile back.¬† Most of these likenesses are a little iffy, but I’m working directly from the tiny card card picture, so it can’t entirely be helped.¬† I think Gattis & Tulo might be the only ones I came close to nailing.

Raven..

Raven sketch card..

This is the only Raven I ended up kinda liking out of the four I’ve done so far this year.¬† I’ll put up the other ones in a future post.

She-Hulk sketch card..

She-Hulk sketch card..

Starting to learn how to shade again after the long coloring hiatus.  This one *might* be good enough to be my own entrant onto my She-Hulk page.

By rule, I must have at least one licensed sketch card, one random PSC or outright commissioned sketch card, and one sketch card drawn by me on my character sketch card pages.  The rest can be pretty much anything.

Blink by Me..

Blink by Me..

Finally, a NSFW Blink.¬† You’ll no doubt notice the pose is more dynamic/interesting than I normally tend to do.¬† The reason for this is that the pose (and even the shading to a degree) is based on a picture tweeted out by a nerdy pornstar I follow on Twitter.¬† And it should be noted that she indeed liked the card, so I guess I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.

And that is it for this latest art & sketch card roundup.  More to come in the near future!

Big hitter, the Lama…

New-ish Sketch Cards Pickups

Picked these up towards the end of last year.¬† Scanned ’em the day after Christmas.¬† Posting them now.

DC Women of Legend Raven..

DC Women of Legend Raven..

The rare Raven from a licensed set..  This was by far the least expensive of my quartet of licensed set Ravens, at a hair under $15 with free shipping.  None of the others were under $20.  Hopefully with regular sets coming out again, the price of DC sketch cards starts dropping off so I can get more Ravens in the $10-15 range.  That would be fantastic.

Raven by CK Russell..

Raven by CK Russell..

This outstanding PSC comes from via eBay from my frequently moving Canadian friend Cara.  She is the main reason I got into sketch cards in the first place, both as an artist and a collector.

Dawnstar..

Dawnstar..

This is also by Cara, my first Dawnstar sketch card.  This is the main reason I picked up the lot of three Legion of Superheroes sketches.  Here are the other two:

Apparition..

Apparition..

Cosmic Boy..

Cosmic Boy..

I will (reluctantly) consider sale or trade offers if anyone wishes to make Apparition or Cosmic Boy a part of their collections.  Hit me up.  Also, go follow Cara on Twitter & see about a commission or something, eh?

And that’s all I got for now.¬† Thank you for stopping by!

Until our next…

Stuff I’ve Been Working On

What’s this? ¬†A new post?! ¬†Yes, I’m still here. ¬†And since they are the only thing I have handy (I was hoping to do a trade post here, but alas…), here are some pics of some sketch cards I’ve been working on recently. ¬†Last Tuesday I penciled 19 in one day! ¬†Most of them have been given some ink and a couple are colored now. ¬†Check ’em, and the immediately preceding bunches, out!

The first 7 Doctors Who..

Was sorta trying to do like I did with the Jareth card I did as an art trade (that you will see in a bit), and not be hyperrealistic, but still instantly recognizable.  What do you think so far?

She-Hulk, Psylocke, Mia Yim (Pro Wrestler), Axe Cop (Webcomic Phenomenon), Optimus Prime, Vampirella, and 2 Jigens (Lupin III; it's a classic anime)

At first when I didn’t get on the Vampirella set I was just like whatevs, but the more I’ve thought about it, the more it’s bugged me. ¬†I think I’m good enough for a major set like that now! ¬†What say you?

Anyway, those were all the presentable ones from the 19 I did. ¬†One just sucked, one was nekkid, one was pervy (but not nekkid), and one maybe doesn’t suck but I just don’t like how it turned out. ¬†16-18 out of 19 in one sleep-deprived day is still a pretty good percentage though, methinks. ¬†Now for the immediately preceding bunch.

Beth Phoenix, Vampirella again, Rogue, Ms. Marvel, Zatanna, Kratos (God of War video games), Static (w/ Kirby Krackle!), Fire & Ice

Ms. Marvel and Zatanna were done at the same time on an ill-fated ustream cast, then I did the rest a few days later. ¬†Static is for my dad, his consolation prize for losing our bet on the Bears/Jets game back in December. ¬†I won three sketch cards from him (that he still hasn’t gotten around to doing yet!), but offered one as a consolation. ¬†He was a big fan of the Milestone line back in it’s day, and still has most of the early issues of all the (four?) original series laying around somewhere.

So yeah, not only does artistic ability of various forms run throughout both sides of my entire family tree, but geekery is big as well in at least the immediate.  Even my mom is becoming a fan of Castle and The Cape and has been a pretty serious casual gamer going all the way back to when she used to hog my original Game Boy to play Tetris and Dr. Mario (and be exponentially better than me at both) when I was but a youngling, lol.

Anyway, back to the cards! ¬†These next bunches are from a gaggle of art trades from Facebook and some randoms from right after and precede the above by about three weeks or so I guess. ¬†I think all 7 or 8 people involved have received their cards by now. ¬†I’m pretty sure I’ve received all of mine anyway (another post for another glorious day).

Three Rogues, Akuma (Street Fighter), Sam Witwer (aka Starkiller, and I guess he's on the US Being Human), Gambit, Jareth (Labyrinth), Heath Ledger's Joker

Witwer was mostly just penciled and then colored over with marker. ¬†Still not sure about how it came out, but it was gleefully accepted, although that may just be due to the shirtlessness of it all…

Tron, Witwer finished, Jareth finished, Storm, The Flash, Darth Maul

As you can see, Witwer got a darker background and Jareth got a couple touchups before I sent him along. ¬†All that circuitry on Tron was just brutal, although it didn’t really take any longer than usual I guess. ¬†It sorta reminds me of an anime bumper. ¬†The other notable thing is that all the coloring on The Flash is done in colored pencil (as is Tron’s circuitry). ¬†I’m actually quite pleased with how he turned out, considering how little thought and effort went into him initially, and accidentally using the wrong colored pencil at first because they aren’t clearly marked.

So yeah, there ya go. ¬†I had one more scan, but there’s a card on it that might be close enough to NSFW to not post it right now. ¬†Still, this is nearly my entire output from 2011 thusfar. ¬†Save for licensed sets, I think I’m already getting close to what I did in 2010, lol. ¬†And I’d like to think that most of it is worlds better than much of my previous work as well.

Incidentally, I have no idea what I’m actually going to do with most of these. ¬†That first Rogue with the starry background, Tron, Gambit, Jareth, Akuma, Witwer, and Ledger Joker were traded and Static is for my dad, but not so sure about the rest. ¬†I’d like to get the Beth Phoenix and Mia Yim cards autographed. ¬†I have this idea, to do a bunch of sketch cards of real people and get them auto’d, then frame and display them when I have myself a mancave someday. ¬†Everything else… I dunno. ¬†I suppose I may make them available for sale or maybe even trade if anybody is interested in them. ¬†Let me know and we can work something out.

Well, I guess that’s it for this massive sketch card post. ¬†Seeya next time, y’all!

Until our next…
