Shot Taken

The Orange Goblin..

Finally pulled the trigger on another trade with my most frequent trading partner, Shot Not Taken!  Lot to get to, so with relatively minimal textual commentary clutter and just pure card porn, here is what came my way.  Roll that beautiful bean footage:

It is kinda hard to tell, but that Booker T base card is actually a bronze parallel.  The normal foil logo on the base cards is red.

According to my wantlist, I actually still needed this base card!

Roger & Angelina were consolation for a card I inquired about that wasn’t available.  I’ve been wanting an Angelina Love auto for awhile now though, & Staubach will be made available for trade.  He should net me a nice return and turn this into a technical three-way deal, if one comes along.

Trouty Mays Lava Flow!

Trouty Mays Lava Flow!

This card is so much more gorgeous in person.  So much so that I decided to acquire a full page of Panini’s Black Friday Lava Flow parallels.  This goes on the Trout page, but I’ve already acquired Bryce Harper and Kevin Durant for the Lava Flow page.  So just a heads up that I’m looking to trade for some more if anyone in the blogosphere has any.

I also picked up a Nomah RC shortly after this arrived.  Now if I could just trade for or find a good looking sub-$15 to buy (well, when I’m not completely broke again) for a possibly all-time record speed trifecta acquiring.

Finally got a Rizzo hit!

Awesome way to close this post.  And that be that.  Even my attempt at sparse commentary turns out to be not all that sparse.  Thanks again for being a prime time trading partner, Ray!

Until our next…

That Old COMC Order…

Better get these posted up, since my ginormo 123 card order got here a few days ago and will be scanned soon.  Plus there’s another good-sized order I’ll be having shipped before Christmas!  I’ll see about getting the trade bait added onto it’s proper page after I finish (this could mean tomorrow or 2018, I don’t know).

In other news, I have at least three packages going out over the weekend as well, possibly more.  Now then, onto the pretty pretty card pictures.  Huzzah!

Iconic minis, Agent Zero, Japanese stickers, a set completing starlet, and some numbered Cats..

None of these are for trade.  The Kenn/Cat is a red parallel #’ed /50, the Fusion is to /150.  The 1980-81 style Arenas is part of a booklety-type thing, except his was missing.  I have a Chris Paul that’s all together though, so I’ll go into more detail whenever I get CP3 scanned and posted.  The COMC pics don’t adequately describe it.  Kosuke and Tuffy aren’t too exciting to look at, but I didn’t even know there were stickers like that made in Japan.  Finally, Selma Blair completes my PopCardz relic set, but that too is another post for another time.

A tire swatch, a shiny Vlad, a super thick and transparent (and I guess die-cut) 'Twoine, The Sarge, Vitters, a great player with a lame patch, Gale Sayers, and a '60 high number..

Only The Sarge is for trade.  Ed is my second ’60 high number, which is pretty good considering I’m just barely into double digits overall.  I say maybe die-cut on Antoine Walker because the five tiny squares at the bottom and the three near the top are holes that go clear through the card, which is patch card thick.  Love that tire swatch; trying to at least one of every single type of relic card in existence.  The Vlad is from the golden age of shiny cards.  In fact it doesn’t so much shine as glow.  It’s a lost art.  Topps just doesn’t have it, and every attempt I’ve seen Panini make at shiny is downright atrocious.  Papi’s patch really is lame.  It’s hard to say for sure that it’s even a patch.  Vitters only set me back about $.75, if I recall correctly.  And Gale Sayers… well, it’s GALE SAYERS, what more need be said?

Horford & some guy, a couple swatches of maybe the most underrated player ever, old school Wiz Rip, Brook & some guys, a giant floor swatch, Gallinari, and J-Rich

All of these are for trade.  I think the theme here is underrated.  If you keep offering up any of these guys for as little as this, I suppose I will feel compelled to take them every time.  There’s just a certain price point for some guys.  The Hawks are probably all going to Dayf unless someone else wants to make an offer on them.  I’ve got a mess of stuff for him already, so if he doesn’t come over and outright demand them, it’s probably not a big deal.  Anyway, have at thee.

An unfortunate necessity, Maury, BJ, Pettitte is already claimed, I think V-Mart is too, Carlos Lee in his days on the South Side, Buchholz (was he claimed too?), Atkins on the Rocks..

Have at these too.  They are all for trade, or were.  Pettitte was claimed by zee Dimwit, I think Baseball Dad got V-Mart, and I want to say Buchholz was claimed too, but I don’t know for sure.  If you claimed it, speak up, otherwise I’m listening to offers again.  Cardinals, bleh.  But we Cubs fans need to have some around for our Missouriable rivals.  It’s a symbiotic thing.  Better to send ’em to someone who will inexplicably cherish them than make kindling out of them I guess.

The Marlins last hope get a fanbase, Iceman, Addai, a fellow headcase, Amar'e, Mr. Kardashian, and some card backs..

Reyes is bound for Wicked Ortega country, Amar’e was claimed by Plaschke ages ago, but the other four are available.  I despise all that the Kardashians stand for, but that Odom is just a good looking card.  It’s also hilarious.  Listed as a Laker, pictured with the Heat, and the back says the jersey swatch is from his time with the Clippers.  I’d like to believe the floor came from his high school, lol.  Does Vince Young still have fans or collectors?  Do the Colts?  Also, there’s the back of the Antoine Walker card.  Yup.

That’s it.  No more pretty pictures and even more incoherent than usual babble for tonight.  Feel free to stake your claim on any of the available cards you like.  And as always, thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Trade Bait Preview

I finally got some stuff shipped from COMC.  Here are a few scans.  First up some stuff that may be to Shot Not Taken‘s liking, since I’m way overdue on trading with him again.

The Happy Warrior and Mike "Quicksand" Pyle.. I believe the former is already a done deal.

A “scan/picture doesn’t do it justice” Allan Houston & a high end Gallinari #’ed /99..

NBA Legends.. I assume Ray won't want Gervin, but the Frazier may be to his liking.

Amare 2-color (I'm calling patch; the white part is slightly raised) & Nets Brook Lopez/Ryan Anderson/Chris Douglas-Roberts triple jersey..

I didn’t forget the rest of you though.  There’s plenty more good basketball stuff to be had too (especially if you’re a Hawks fan).  Baseball is more most bloggers thing though.  Well, I might be able to hook some of you up too.  Have a looksie:

Shawn Green, Maury Wills, Rick Ankiel..

Not a Cardinals fan, obviously but as Night Owl has eloquently noted a time or two, having something around to trade with your rival team’s fans is never a bad thing, even if neither one of you will ever understand why the other would ever willingly support such a loathsome team, lol.

V-Mart and the Sarge bat cards..

Buchholz & Astro Andy..

And that will do it for now.  Shoebox Legends has dibs on Clay.  Let me know if you see something you like, and remember, this is only a preview.  There are quite a few more where these came from.  And I’m slowly getting drawn back into the trading thing, so there’s a fair chance you will get your cards before the world ends next December, haha.

Until our next..

I Have No Idea What This Post Will Be About…

… Until I start writing it.  I’m barely mentally coherent and can’t quite think of anything specific to say (I for one blame this ridiculous heat and dis brokeass recliner hurting my back for my total lack of posting energy), but I feel the need to say SOMETHING.  So, here goes whatever.

Nothing has happened as yet with my Black Diamond Die-Cut on the topps Diamond Giveaway site.  Haven’t even gotten many offers on it.  I’ve picked up three regulars via trading though.

I had to let my ’75 Bill Madlock go earlier today when someone offered a Yovani Gallardo for it.  Just couldn’t refuse that.  I also scored a Ricky Romero a few days ago from haphazardly offering up my ’67 Dick Schofield, ’74 Walt Williams, and ’91 Luis Rivera for just about any Diamond Die-Cut I had even marginal interest in and/or could easily trade once I have it in-hand if I can’t get one of my needs on the site.  I sent out a mess of only slightly more focused trade offers for each when the sun was going down.

Before that, doing the same incoherent-but-effective trade offering with a ’73 Johnny Briggs and ’69 Chuck Cottier landed me a Billy Butler which over the course of a single day became a Carlos Santana which finally turned into my first definite keeper in Vlad Guerrero.  Very nice.  I’d like to land another Santana for myself at some point, but I’m not counting on it.

(EDIT: Just checked.  I’ve landed another Carlos Santana.  Got it for Gallardo.  Lulz.)

Aside from that, I’ve picked up four packs of this year’s A&G.  The first two (from Walmart) were weak.  No inserts, plain ol’ regular back minis (one was a Cub, but I’ve never been a fan of Dempster), and a shortprint of stinkin’ Cardinal.  Only saving grace was Cheryl Burke hawtness.

The second two (from Target) were outstanding, however.  A code version of an SP, a Jason Heyward mini SP, a Most Mysterious Man in the Iron Mask, and an Ascent of Man, which I can confirm are as awesome as advertised.  Plus more cool random people base cards in Kristi Yamaguchi and  Stan freakin’ Lee!  I’ll be keeping Kristi, Stan, and maybe the Ascent of Man (for now at least), but the others are available.  I’m interested in Minds that Made the Future, Highlight Sketches, and Portraits in Penultimacy in return.

I also picked up a few things the on COMC the other day, much of it trade bait.  Flying Spaghetti Monster only knows when I’ll have money to get any of it out though, especially if the government turds out.  Seriously, fuck the GOP.  Right in the ear.  Because God forbid the rich and big businesses start paying their fair share of taxes, amirite?

Anyway, if you like BJ Upton, Jose Reyes (2B?), Victor Martinez, Garrett Atkins, or… Joseph Addai (eh, why not?), or the teams they play/played for, you might be in luck.  Also Carlos Lee and Andy Pettitte.

Also slowly gathering specific things for specific people.  Got at least one thing I owe Ray now.  I’ll set about getting ahold of the rest pending government bullshittery.

Finally, for the love of Tommy Oliver, my email is on my blogger profile which is linked on my sidebar!  Ahem… Sorry, but it’s there.

In the meantime, here’s a picture of a thing (via my first trade with Cards on Cards that I never posted because I don’t know what became of most of the scans :():

The original Shawon-O-Meter?

Seriously though, I have no idea what this is and have been too lazy and/or unfocused to look it up as of yet.  It’s kinda cool though.

Guess that’s all for this post.  Needs more pictures, but it turned out better than the post I had originally planned.  Baseball cards are much more enjoyable than b*tching about government incompetence, DC Comics incompetence, and… “Unicorns”.  It would’ve been… weird.

It’s too hot for pants…

It’s Always Something…

Apologies for starting to drop off the posting pace again, it isn’t for lack of content or anything to say.  To put it briefly, as of early Sunday morning, my keyboard is on the fritz… yes I somehow managed to kill another one.  Anyway, this is being written via crummy on-screen keyboard, which is no good for posts of any real length.  So, no more posts (of much substance anyway) until this can be dealt with.

However, I can still do smaller chunks of work.  As such, I’ve been slowly working on a couple of my pages.  My Wantlist is very nearly up to date, and a bit more colorful now (somewhat inspired by Fuji’s very colorful blog), and I’ve done the same with my trade bait page as well.  I’m also finally slowly adding my available hits to over there, so be sure to stop by and see if there’s anything you like!  The vast majority of my available his should be up by sunrise.

So yeah, that’s what’s up.  I’ll still be around though.  Holla.

Now, where did I put that Price is Right loser horn?

Quick Hits

Just a few odds and ends while I’ve got a minute.

• No one ever won the guess the card suit contest, so I’ll do a drawing with those that bothered to guess when I get around to it.

(The answer was the Queen of Hearts, by the way.)

• You can count me amongst the many bloggers collecting the 2011 topps Diamond Parallel set.  I’ll start a wantlist on the proper page as soon as my loot from the group case break.  Everything I have is Rays, but I’m not quite sure which Rays they are just yet.

• I am also after Kimball Champions.  Those are some hella nice cards as well.  I’ll start the wantlist for these when my first trade involving them comes in.  Right now all I have Shin-Soo Choo and David Price, and I’ll need a second Choo, since this one is for my Choo collection.  Choo.

• I haven’t forgotten any trades in progress or to be sent.  Thank you very much for your patience.  I hope what I send will be worth your respective waits.

• I’m adding Josh Freeman and LeGarrette Blount to my player collections, dropping Pablo Sandoval for the time being (barely have or ever received anything of him anyway) and making other minor alterations to the PC lists as well.

• Are there any Minnesota Timberwolves collectors out there?  I have a Lazar Hayward redemption that is being redeemed as we speak and will be available for trade in maybe four months or so.  Does it help that it’s a Rated Rookie from the new 2010-11 Donruss set?

That’s it for now.  I’ll try and have an actual post for you all tomorrow.   Seeyas.

Woogadoo!

For the Love of Trade Bait!

Man that trade bait post went over crazy well, absolutely demolished my single day record for hits.  Instead of hashing everything out in the comments section, let’s do a whole post on it.

• First, Shane of Shoebox Legends gets the Pedro parallel and Manny bat card.  We have traded twice before, and I have no doubt he will hook me up with some good Cubbies, especially if I end up with any of the Cubbies from the Old School Group Break he is making out rather bandit-like in, lol.

blazershane gets the Gaylord Perry for offering up a Just Aramis Ramirez auto.  I can’t pass up an auto of my favorite current Cub, but I wouldn’t have gone this way if I didn’t have something up my penny sleeve for my pal, the great Wicked Ortega.

• So don’t worry Alfredo, I do have a different Perry jersey if you want it.  And I also received a 2008 Legendary Cuts Generations dual jersey of David Ortiz and Jim Rice from Shot Not Taken in our latest very impromptu trade.  Fate is funny sometimes though, as I already had two of the Goodwin Champions Aramis Ramirez jerseys you offered, so to do I have said Ortiz/Rice already as well.  So you will be getting one of them if you want it.

Baseball Card Stuff will be getting the Roger Clemens jersey (and all the 206 thick bronzy parallels I have so far).  I think I have the Donruss Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie already, but I will check to be sure.  Still though, as of now, Clemens is yours.

For everyone needing to email me, behold!

I finally linked things.

My email address doesn’t seem to be available on my blog anywhere.  At all.  It’s been an issue ever since I started trading, so I’ve finally gotten around to doing something about it.  Click on that link in the sidebar, shown in the picture above, to get to my blogger profile.  You can find my email there.

A last couple things before I go,

Eddie Mathews remains untraded.  Sorry to be such a hardass on that one, but like I said, it’s going to take something very special for me to give him up.

And second, where are all the Yankees and Braves fans?  No takers on the Chippahs or the Yankee Hall of Famers?  There are at least as many Braves and Yankee fan card bloggers combined as there are Orioles fan card bloggers, maybe even slightly more somehow, but no bites.  I am… disheartened. u.u

But seriously though, I’ve got so many stinkin’ Yankees I want to get rid of.  And considering they don’t tend to severely dominate sets like the Yanks and unlike a few teams, I don’t seek any extras out at all (that LaRoche auto aside), the Braves seem to be one of my more prolific teams as well.  Come on, man!

Anyway, though the post begins it’s slow descent down the blog, the rest of the cards not claimed are still very much in play.  For all the action and blog hits, only four of the cards in the post are actually going out thusfar.  Seeya next time I have something to post about!

I need a donut and some more sleep…

Trade Bait and a Reminder

Reminder first… My box of ’09 A Piece of History is finally do to arrive today.  As such, I will be busting it in the early evening tonight, live on justin.tv.  The cast shall hopefully commence at around 7pm eastern/6pm central time (pending my cam and mic and the website itself functioning properly, of course).  Anyway, feel free to sign up at at Jtv and join me at the link then.  Or don’t sign up and just be an anonymous and vaguely creepy onlooker that can’t talk in the chat.  Whatever the case, just come by and check it out the box break in glorious crappy webcam-o-vision!

Now then, for the trade bait… Come and get it!

We got mini Chipper jerseys...

Two of 'em!

Maybe football’s your thing?

Not sure Vick will get any interest (which sucks cuz I've got two other jersey cards of him from back in the day too), but maybe the other two will get some interest...

How about teh shiny?

Lew isn't for trade, all the shiny is though!

Some crappy base too…

Pfft Yankees...

A few random Hall of Famers, mayhaps?

Dave Winfield w/ pinstripe

Goooooooose!

Woohoo, not a Yankee!

And finally, the coolest one of all.  Yes, even cooler than big Dave.  Don’t look at me like that.

I'm not sure I even want to trade this one, but if you can offer up something awesome, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team.

Wait, that’s not right.  But seriously, it’s going to take something especially great to get Ed from me.

Dave Winfield will take something a of above average specialness too.  I’ve considered collecting him for quite some time, so I can always keep him and start that collection if I’m not quite feeling the offer (or don’t get one).

There ya go.  If you see something you like, make your actual offer in the comments section please.  I’m a little (okay a lot, though slightly less so than Beardy :P) slow on the email draw, best if I can get the offers here and just mess with addresses via email.  And this way everybody will know what’s available and what’s been claimed, and what it might take to get any given card(s).  Fair enough?

Seeya when the sun comes up…

2008 topps Chrome from the $1.59 Bin

Exactly what it says on the tin.  I raided the newest stuff that had found it’s way into the discount bin at Shopko when I was in there on Saturday.  Also picked up two 2007 topps ’52 Rookies packs, a pack of 2008 Mayo football, and the most boring pack of 2008 topps Heritage ever made.  More on that stuff another time though; we all about the Chrome right now!  I got shorted a card in one pack, so only 27 cards.  This is everything:

6 packs 2008 topps Chrome 1

The Harden Refractor is a keeper until he ends up somewhere else...

6 packs 2008 topps Chrome 2

J-Roll is a blue refractor parallel #ed /200. And did those X-Fractors scan nice or what? Randor Bierd & Matt Holliday

6 packs 2008 topps Chrome 3

Grady's a Refractor if you can't quite tell. Manny's going to Wicked Ortega. Someday. Adam Jones is for Beardy. So's Prince Randor of Eternia if he wants him.

Everyone except for Harden (for now), Manny, Pacman Jones, & maybe Randorrrrr are available for trade.  Call ya shot.

Over and out!

More Discount Cards From K-Mart #3: The Big Finish

This is not actually the big finish.  I’ve picked up four or five more discount blasters since Christmas, the latest two being Goudey.  Here though is the next Upper Deck Heroes blaster for you.  If your lucky, I’ll get through the next four much faster.  I seriously don’t even have a decent excuse for my slowness to post.

Everything not listed as a keeper is up for trade, save most of the Red Sox.  Pick any team besides the Red Sox, and they can be yours.  Even most of my White Sox are better served going to someone besides White Sox Cards, because he has most of them already.  Just hit me up in the comments we’ll see if we can’t work something out.

I’ve started working on a specific want list page that I might be able to finish this weekend, so you can see exactly what I be after (so I don’t end up with 10 Upper Deck X Fukudome’s :P).

Till the Crossroads…
